This course aims to introduce aspects of the culture, history, geography, traditions and literature of the British Isles to give a background and context to English language study, and to have students become more aware of cultural differences in the wider world and among non-Japanese persons.

Students are introduced to some significant areas, towns, and sites in Britain and cultural or historical points connected with them. They also practice dialogues about cultural aspects for practical communication. Each week, students prepare a mini-talk related to a topic introduced during the classroom activity.
